Every story needs a beginning. The story of WEVER & DUCRE begins in the early eighties, when a handful of young Belgians decided to found a new lighting company. So far, so good. But what should the company be called? Since several official languages are spoken in Belgium – including Flemish and French – there was only one option: the name had to sound good in both languages. Then, quite by chance, the company founders came across a document: a small guide to a successful life. Its advice: hard work (WErklust), trust (VERtrouwen), enthusiasm (ENthousiasme), coupled with courage (DUrf) and a good dose of creativity (CREativiteit). These five points still form the basis of our company philosophy today.
